BANGKOK, Thailand – It seemed like a good idea at the time: Remove all the feral cats from a famous Australian island to save the native seabirds.

But the decision to eradicate the felines from Macquarie island allowed the rabbit population to explode and, in turn, destroy much of its fragile vegetation that birds depend on for cover, researchers said Tuesday.

Removing the cats from Macquarie "caused environmental devastation" that will cost authorities 24 million Australian dollars ($16.2 million) to remedy, Dana Bergstrom of the Australian Antarctic Division and her colleagues wrote in the British Ecological Society's Journal of Applied Ecology.

"Our study shows that between 2000 and 2007, there has been widespread ecosystem devastation and decades of conservation effort compromised," Bergstrom said in a statement.

The unintended consequences of the cat-removal project show the dangers of meddling with an ecosystem — even with the best of intentions — without thinking long and hard, the study said.

"The lessons for conservation agencies globally is that interventions should be comprehensive, and include risk assessments to explicitly consider and plan for indirect effects, or face substantial subsequent costs," Bergstrom said.

Located about halfway between Australia and the Antarctic continent, Macquarie was designated a World Heritage site in 1997 as the world's only island composed entirely of oceanic

If these Australian researchers had consulted God, then they would have done the right thing!
One day a friend of mine made a ruling during our un informal debate that, may be am crazy, he said my arguments and reasoning some how lacked the basics ! Another said that, I sounded a bit off when I was presenting to them my project of which bares these names, Nature is our teacher and Tales from Jacaranda land (These are the children books I have written in order to educate and teach them to love their nature and environment and at the same time I want our kids to appreciate technology and advancement man).In fact I made the ruling that, we the humans(The citizens of this planet have adopted a very strange culture of not trying to observe , then analyze and finally make the ruling on at least all issues.
I, think a student can not teach the teacher, the fact why today we are living in the fear of loosing our pretty lively planet is because, we the humans have failed to learn and accept to be educated. I believe and agree that even though some one happens to acquire the most sophisticated kind of education without being guided by the basics his or her educations may be a real waste !

God made our planet with all the marvelous environment and the beautiful climates which always change automatically in order to teach us that he is the chief architecture and the teacher of all teachers. At least wherever you go on this planet, you will be astonished to see the patterns and the unique balance of nature and this interesting natural phenomenon have enabled us to live a happy life on our planet earth. I used to wonder in my early days why God created the carnivorous animals and not only the herbivorous animals. The reason why I could not be able to reason it by then was that, because God wanted to balance his/our nature that's why he made the carnivorous and herbivorous. Today there are all sorts of expert whom we have invested our trust in so as to help us restore the gift of nature which we have been abusing for generations, in fact these experts are really doing a very good work ,but due to the fact that, they have been missing the major faculty of creation they always end up doing the opposite!
NB;I kindly request you to support my cause of educating and sensitizing our young generation about loving our nature and appreciating technology.
By just buying my book/s for your kid/s will make a lot in my work. Just click on https://www.lulu.com/commerce/index.php?fBuyContent=5630070 and buy(The book/s called Tales from Jacaranda land, Why Frogs Have No Tails.
This project is meant to support me teach our children all over the globe about the importance of their environment.
